William Garfield, Tule River Tribal Councilmember was Nominated for Man of The Year Award for the Tulare and Kings Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

(Eagle Mountain Casino, Porterville, Ca 93257) – Tule River Tribal Councilmember William Garfield was selected as a finalist and among the top 3 selected for Man of The Year for The Tulare and Kings Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for all of his work and dedication to his Tribe, company, and community.

Council-member William J. Garfield was selected as a finalist and among the top 3 chosen for Man of The Year for the Tulare and Kings Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at the end of 2021. The Chamber of Commerce chose Council-member Garfield as a finalist for his well-known community involvement, including his instrumental role in fund-raising activities throughout the Central Valley for many local organizations, including the Porterville Exchange Club and Porterville Breakfast Rotary, Chambers, and many other groups throughout Tulare and Kern Counties. Councilmember Garfield’s primary focus has been to ensure stability for tribal members, working with both tribal and local governments on beneficial collaborations while also focusing on giving back to the community and helping other Tribes throughout California. Councilmember Garfield has also been committed to addressing the Covid – 19 crisis and the recent wildfires impacting the Tribe by promoting public safety and taking all actions to protect the Tribe’s sacred sites and natural resources.

During his tenure on the Tule River Tribal Council, Councilmember Garfield has been devoted to overseeing the relocation of the Eagle Mountain Casino, currently scheduled to open on schedule in the Fall of 2022. Due to the tireless efforts and leadership of the former Chairman and the Tule River Tribal Council, the Tribe was able to obtain all federal, state, and local approvals for the relocation of the casino and secure favorable financing for the relocation project.

The award winner, announced May 6, 2022, was Tulare County Supervisor of District 4 Eddie Valero, a long-time resident of the Central Valley. Supervisor Valero received an Ivy League education and returned with the goal of prosperity for Tulare County residents. As Supervisor, Valero represents Dinuba, Woodlake, and a small portion of Visalia. He is an educator and native of Cutler-Orosi.



Currently, Eagle Mountain Casino is located 17 miles east of Porterville and is a full-service casino owned and operated by the Tule River Tribe. Guests must be 18 years of age to enter. The casino is open 24/7. The Grizzly Food court is open 24/7, and the River Steakhouse is open Friday – Sunday from 5pm – 10pm. Eagle Mountain Casino is a short drive from Bakersfield or Visalia. 
 
The new casino property is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2022, off Highway 65 in Porterville, CA, next to the Porterville Fair Grounds. The new property will double in size growing to over 100,000 square feet, featuring new dining options, 1750 slot machines, 20 table games, and a state-of-the-art event center.
